Steve McCarron joined the CBS 47 news team as a Reporter/Producer in August 2007.
Steve came to the Central Valley from KAPP 35 in Yakima, Washington, where he anchored and reported for more than 3 years. Steve was the weekend co-anchor and helped launch the station’s dual market weekend newscasts in January 2006.
Steve is a proud graduate of the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University. GO COUGS! After graduation, he spent 5 five weeks as a news intern for KXLY 4 in Spokane, Washington, before getting the call to report in the Yakima Valley. Steve began his career on his birthday in June 2004. One of his greatest moments as a young journalist was meeting the late Peter Jennings at the Murrow Symposium that same year.
Originally from the Seattle, Washington area, Steve hopes to one day make it back to the Pacific Northwest. He’s looking forward to exploring the Central Valley and everything California has to offer. He’s already fallen in love with Yosemite. But he admits it might take some time getting used to not having rain 12 months out of the year.
In his spare time, Steve loves watching movies, entertaining friends, and trying out new restaurants and wines.
Feel free to send any questions, comments, or story ideas his way! He’ll be glad to say “Hello.”
